Regarding the postponement of the Games this coming summer, Palau points out that "it was a real possibility", although it qualifies that "I thought they would wait a bit because there are many interests at stake".

"All of us, right now, are waiting to see 1x bet how the confinement ends", recognizes the captain of the Spanish team; that, waiting to know if the Women’s League is resumed or if it is definitively canceled, as has already been done with the European competitions, continues to train at home.

"I’m like a beast. And, if this lasts long, I’ll get out of here …"he jokes before stating that "we all have to exercise; also for the head".

Antonio Rüdiger, Chelsea center-back, commented in an interview on the club’s website about the anecdote of the shirt that he keeps as the best memory of a match. The German swapped the coat with Leo Messi once, but Rüdiger wasn’t sure if the Argentine wanted his.

Leo Messi

"I have the Lionel Messi shirt from when we played in Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League a couple of years ago. It was a great honor for me to play against a player like him, so I asked him after the game when we shook hands", began counting the central.

"I was sure he didn’t want mine, but Cesc Fàbregas was close and he said ‘but give him your shirt, he wants your shirt too!"Rüdiger commented on the anecdote. In the end it was all a misunderstanding and they were able to exchange them.

"If Messi comes and makes a mistake, Gallardo is going to kill him screaming"

Thebes: "Messi will not go to Serie A"

The match where it all happened was in the second leg of the 2017/18 Champions League round of 16, which was played at the Camp Nou. Barça did not go from a draw to one in the first leg at Stamford Bridge and had to finish the job at home. They beat the ‘blues’ 3-0 and made it to the quarterfinals, where they were eliminated after the hit against Roma.

Roger Martí came to the fore last week when he was placed in the orbit of Barça as a possible reinforcement for the forward. A real information like life itself as recognized by the Levante player to ‘Superdeporte’. "At the end, on Tuesday, my agent (José Rodri) contacted me and told me that Barça was interested in signing me.", he assured in an interview this Tuesday after training in Buñol. "He comes to Valencia, meets (with Quico Catalán) and tells me that no agreement is reached because Levante does not want to sell me".

Roger Marti: Barca? Raise don’t want to sell me

Everything stayed there, although for Roger it is beyond doubt that the interest was real. "I’m on the sidelines of all that but knowing clearly that Barça was interested in me. In the end there was no more talk about the subject but as I have always said, I am very comfortable here and calm. That a team like Barça loves you is very nice and shows that things are being done well. I don’t know how the song will end but I’m very happy here".

The forward, who has scored 10 goals so far this year, acknowledges that he is proud that Barcelona has been interested in him. "The player who says he doesn’t like being called by Barça is lying, he’s one of the best teams in the world. It is nice that they call you or that they are interested in you, as is the case. But in the end I am very focused. It is clear that I have a contract here and a clause that must be respected". One more name on the Barça list.

The decision to postpone the Tokyo Olympics is going to generate a financial headache, both for the extra expenses and for the money that will no longer be received, in a year that Japan is not doing very well either.

Japan and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Tuesday that Tokyo 2020 will be held in 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 on the preparation of athletes and migration barriers that are restricting travel between countries.

INCOME AND LOSSES

Expert calculations indicated that the Olympic Games that were to begin on July 24 would generate for Japan an increase in its gross domestic product (GDP) of about 1.7 trillion yen (14.2 billion euros / 15.3 billion dollars ).

Part of that money can be transferred to next year, when the Olympic Games are held on dates yet to be defined, but there will be a part that will be lost, because many costs that were planned for several months will be extended for another year.

And it is not good news for this year in Japan, which has been suffering for months from the impact of COVID-19, with a year-on-year drop in GDP of 0.7% in the last quarter of last year, with a worse outlook for 2020.

The Fitch rating agency, for example, estimates that the Japanese economy will fall this year by 1.1%, but that does not take into account a postponement of the Olympics. Taking this element into account, the decrease will be close to 1.6%.

So far, the Government of Japan and the Government of Tokyo have invested between 7,000 and 9,000 million dollars, according to sources, to organize the Olympic Games, but although all the venues are already finished, the expenses continue, and will continue until the Games begin .

FALL OF TOURISM

If tourism is taken into account, hundreds of thousands of people will no longer come this year, expected for this summer and who, according to estimates by the firm Nomura, were going to generate an income of about 2 billion dollars.

In fact, for 2020 the tourism outlook in Japan is bleak due to the impact of COVID-19. Only in February the arrival of tourists fell by 58.3%, and 87.9% in the case of visitors from China, the country that sends the most people to Japanese lands.

The calculations indicated that during the Olympic dates, 46,000 rooms would be occupied per day, and it will be necessary to see if that flow will be maintained by 2021.

OLYMPIC FACILITIES AND EMPLOYEES

On the other hand, the last budget of the Olympics fixed at about 53,000 million yen (441 million euros / 477 million dollars) the price of the rents that the Tokyo Government and the organizing committee must cover for the facilities they use .

In addition, according to the Nikkei financial daily, the entire Olympic apparatus now employs about 3,500 people, and as the dates approached, they will reach 8,000, not counting the thousands of volunteers who had pledged to help.

For the budget for the fiscal year ending this March, the maintenance costs for these employees are set at 4,026 million yen (33 million euros / 36 million dollars). That workload would end in September, but not now.

To the labor cost we must add the maintenance costs such as the Olympic stadium, inaugurated last December, which amounts to 2.4 billion yen annually (20 million euros / 21 million dollars).

But if you take into account the rents and maintenance of all stadiums and Olympic venues, the public television channel NHK puts it at about 640,000 million yen (5,328 million euros / 5,758 million dollars).

Those costs will have to be covered by three parties, the Government of Japan, the IOC and the Tokyo authorities, although the information available so far does not indicate how it will eventually be.

To all this must be added the compensations that have to be paid because the Olympic village and the venues were contracted until next September, when the Paralympic Games were to end, but now it will have to be a year later.

And as if that were not enough, the organizing committee has sold about 4.5 million tickets, without it being clear if there will be a refund. "We will analyze how to guarantee the rights of those who have already bought the tickets"said Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto last night.

THE TOTAL COST OF POSTPONING THE APPOINTMENT

Although it is an approximate calculation, the Nikkei newspaper estimates that, in total, the additional cost for postponing the Olympic Games in one year will be about 300,000 million yen (2.49 billion euros / 2.695 million dollars)

At his daily press conference, Japanese Cabinet Minister Yoshihide Suga said that the "pending things" as the expenses will have to be defined between the three parties involved. "We will have close communication, if it is necessary to take action it will be in an appropriate way"Suga added, without giving any hints.

The IOC postpones the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Laia Palau: "In principle I will continue playing and go to the Olympics"

One thing, at least, the organizing committee has saved, because it will not have to change stationery, badges or logos, since the Olympic Games will continue to be called Tokyo 2020, even if they are held in 2021.

Barça wants to reshape the left wing of the defense for the next season, but from the sports area they are aware that it will not be possible to cover everything if there are no important exits. The idea is to place Umtiti and Junior in the market and, for now, the arrival of a left-handed center-back who can play, eventually as a full-back, is prioritized. The ideal would be David Alaba, from Bayern, but he is asking for a lot of chip money to leave Bayern and other options are being evaluated. One of the most liked for its versatility is that of Villarreal central Pau Torres, who has become one of the fixtures of the Spanish team in recent months.
